Helping you and your family reconnect with peace, happiness and joy.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN

I am here to help children who find it difficult to deal with their emotions, and feel anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed. I help children who feel lost like they don’t fit in or have self-confidence issues.

I help children on the autistic spectrum and children with additional needs to better navigate and connect with this world and feel better in their own skin, just as they are.

I help children by teaching them meditation. Meditation helps children find more peace, calm, and joy in life.

Meditation for children is playful, fun, and engaging.

In my sessions I work intuitively, tuning into the child’s needs at the moment and long-term. I teach them how to use their breath to find calm. I teach them how to experience the world around them and the present moment through their senses.

I guide them through visualisations that are deeply relaxing and engage the power of imagination. Children leave my sessions relaxed but energised, feeling better in themselves, connected to the part of them that remembers why they’re here.

To understand more about how I work with children in person and online please see the FAQ section.

Juliette loved it [the group session]. She came back really relaxed. She explained the structure with the sound and liked the walk to the beach [guided meditation]. She also loved her orange essence bottle. All in all she is buzzing (in the right way).

Laurence, teacher, Mum of Juliette, 9 years old.

Adele loved it, especially the part where they laid down on the mat with a blanket and their teddy during the guided meditation. She also liked the bubble ‘thingy’.’ She said she felt very relaxed and was buzzing for the rest of the day and she’s looking forward to the next session.

WORKING WITH SCHOOLS

Schools are embracing mental health & emotional wellbeing in their approach towards children. I believe this is the way forward. I am personally passionate about making emotional wellbeing a priority for children at schools.

I am also an advocate of a respectful and compassionate approach to children to bring them up as empathic, yet confident adults.

We all want children to thrive at school. The benefits of meditation to children at school are many. Meditation helps children:

  • improve concentration and focus.

Meditation activates the parts of the brain we need for learning and study

  • manage their thoughts and feelings.

A worried mind cannot focus on studying. Learning meditation helps children cope with challenges. Meditation helps children to let go of negative feelings and not become overwhelmed by normal aspects of life like sitting exams or studying.

  • build self-confidence. Self-confidence comes from knowing who you are and your purpose and place in this world

I enjoyed eating grapes [mindfully]. I learnt to be calm. Our sessions helped me at school; I focused better in Maths. Our sessions helped me be calm outside of school too.

Dylan, 8, Year 4

School is a place where children learn the curriculum, however, it is also a place where they form relationships with their peers and the adults at school.

It’s a place where they learn a lot about society, its values and life itself. School is the perfect environment to teach children the things that will really help them in life.

Meditation helps children learn to understand and manage their emotions and learn how to help themselves when they’re going through difficult times or just manage the day to day challenges.

Most importantly meditation helps children understand themselves, accept who they are and thus improve the relationship a child has with themselves.

In a world where anxiety in children is widespread, this is a gift.

Katerina Newbury volunteered her services to our school to complete six sessions of Mindfulness with selected children who were struggling emotionally throughout their school day.

The sessions included meditation techniques, yoga moves, breathing, games and mindful eating to name a few. The children were engaged and keen to attend their sessions, asking throughout the school week when the next one would be!

The children reported that they felt happy and peaceful after the sessions, teachers reported that the children were better able to focus on their lessons that day. Attendance was also noted to improve.

One parent contacted the school specifically to share that she has found her son had been more resilient at home. There was a history of arguments and fighting between brother and sister, Mum believes this lessened, in part down to the child being more self-aware of his emotions and triggers.  He would use the techniques learnt with Mrs Newbury at home.  Mum said that her son was brighter and happier.  Mum also asked if it were an option to pay for sessions privately.

We would not hesitate to recommend Mrs Newbury to other settings, she clearly cared for the children in her groups and they in turn felt safe and understood.

WORKING WITH PARENTS

My belief is that we always do the best we can with the knowledge, experience and skills we have at the time.

However, we can be pretty hard on ourselves and then ‘our best’ doesn’t feel like it’s enough.

I offer parenting advice to help you create a true connection with your child. I will support you on your parenthood journey and help you create a better relationship with your child and with yourself.

I mentor online via zoom, over the telephone and in person

You want to be there for your child.

The demands of life can feel too much.

Since becoming a parent you somehow forgot who you are.

Parenthood is a journey no one prepares us for. It is the toughest job in the world. It doesn’t always feel rewarding. On my motherhood journey I’ve learnt that what I seek is a true connection with my sons. I wanted a genuine relationship. A relationship that comes from the very centre of my heart. In order to start building such a relationship I first had to connect to myself and my own heart.

    It had been closed up.

I am here to help you create a better relationship with yourself and your children. Let me help you understand yourself better. Let me help you find yourself again and  love and accept who you are.

Let me help you feel closer to your children.

‘Loved your session. Your voice is so calming and kind.’

Andrea C, Devizes, participant of group meditation evenings

‘I had the best night’s sleep ever after this’.

Vicky T, Wiltshire, participant of group meditation evenings

Overall we have seen an improvement in his choices and behaviours…. I do think he has been better overall with less tantrums or explosive moments. [There are] much less outbursts, he still has them but rarely and they are shorter. I think we are better at handling them too.
